FYI OSHA laws are found under Title 29 of the Code of Federal Regulations EPA laws are found under Title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations DOT laws are found under Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations The OSHA web site will give access to all its regulations, but you have to hunt them. The link below will allow you to directly search for standards on any subject (i.e. Confined Space or Personal Protective Equipment). OSHA Standards for Construction and General Industry (searchable) To access EPA and/or DOT Regulations, use the Government Printing Office (GPO) WAIS servers. You can also use this method to view OSHA regulations. You must view the files in one of the following file formats: ASCII (Text) or Portable Document Format (PDF). ASCII takes up more Kb. To view PDF files you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader. It is a free download. If you want to download it now click the link below. To search for any specific regulation use the Code of Federal Regulations search engine. It will return searches on key words or you can type a particular CFR in quotes to see the full text of the regulation. The search returns will have icons for 'text', 'pdf', and 'summary'. Choose the best one for you. It is a plastic-coated spiral-bound handbook approximately 3 inches by 5 inches. It describes most situations and requirements for work zone safety. It is geared for road workers, but the requirements are the same for utility work, except for the wording of the signs. To order this handbook go to ATSSA on the web. For information on traffic safety, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has test data on vehicles and other statistics. Their site is searchable for specific information.
