| The QuickLook table you are about to view alphabetically lists many distribution transformer manufacturers. It is not complete, but contains considerable data on most of the major manufacturers doing business over the past 50+ years. You will quickly learn to recognize serial number sequences by the various manufacturers. When one shows up that you know is probably hot, it can be prioritized right from the in-house database; making field checking all pots superfluous. On the other hand, a pot unlikely to be PCB contaminated can wait a while without much risk (unless there is a proximity to food, feed, schools, etc. which should already be the first priority in an elimination program).  Our own Gas Chromatography (G.C.) test results bear out the claims made by the manufacturers, but EPA's new Mega Rule (1998) assumes all distribution transformers produced prior to July 1979 to contain PCB's. It may seem asinine to be required to test units built at a plant or by a manufacturer that never used PCB's in their operations, but we must. So, although we have the expensive onus of proving our transformers are Non-PCB with G.C. lab tests, this data is still valuable as a means of prioritizing our PCB elimination programs.
